In 1870 Rome became the capital of Unified Italy’s, and the government fol-lowed with all its staff, to our city. In 1875, Maurizio Bettoja bought a re-cently built edifice, that had a restaurant on the street, and transformed it into a hotel. The Termini train station at the time was just on top of the street, and very close to the hotel: perfect.
The Bettoja’s thought of offering a “pie-montese” style service to the government staff that had followed it, and today we still offer some dishes that were so popular at the time. And of course the wines too!
All of the family helped trough the generations in this feat, like Jo Bettoja with her successful cook books published in the States, that appear in the menu, alongside the Piedmontaise dishes.
Today, we want to celebrate our first 150 years with five special menus, accompanied by Jo Bettoja’s original recipes. From Monday to Friday, you can try a different menu created especially for the occasion, in addition to all the dishes on our classic menus.
